Ball Square Café and Breakfast Getting Rave Reviews in the Boston Globe
Somerville, MA (PRWEB) June 8, 2008 -- Ball Square Café and Breakfast is gaining popularity, as it was recently featured in the Boston Globe. The daily newspaper provides information on local, national and world news, business, sports, lifestyle, things to do, travel, cars, jobs and homes.
The article, titled "Competition is tough, but diners win," explains the breakfast war between Ball Square Café and Breakfast and opponent, Sound Bites. Mike Moccia, owner of Ball Square, took over Sound Bites last summer when Yasser Mirza, now owner of Sound Bites, moved next door. "Their rivalry has become a source of comic drama in Ball Square, where they compete with dueling sidewalk signs and similar menus," wrote staff writer Sacha Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer also wrote about the renovated décor in Ball Square, which is also attracting new customers. "Moccia, a chatterbox who has hearty greetings for all his customers, handsomely renovated the 40-seat restaurant; it now has exposed brick, granite tables, and funky metal art. His co-owner is head cook Omar Djebbouri, who used to work at Sound Bites - another source of acrimony."
Djebbouri is also the mastermind behind many popular dishes. He has concocted fluffy omelets with ingredients which include smoked salmon, baby spinach, asparagus and prosciutto. His pancakes are also stuffed with fillings such as cranberries, mango, blackberries, or chocolate-chip coconut. "Omar's home fries" are a popular side and is a blend of mashed potatoes, sour cream and garlic fried on the griddle.
